Polio National Immunisation Day

The Polio National Immunisation Day, which is also popularly known as ‘Polio Ravivar’ was being observed on Sunday 31, Jan  across the country. The three-day polio vaccination drive continued from 31 January to 2 February 2021.
The countrywide drive was supported by SGT student volunteers at Civil Hospital Sector 10, Gurugram, Haryana. Total 129 students of GNM, BSc Nursing and Post Basic Nursing of Faculty of Nursing, SGT University participated in the programme under the supervision of Ms. Manisha, Assistant Professor and Mr. Abhishek Mishra, Clinical Instructor.
Students were divided in different teams and deployed at different booths across the city. The lifesaving polio drops were administered to children under five years of age at booths and during home visits. On first day, students vaccinated the children at polio booths. On next two days, home visits were conducted to attain the maximum coverage and to ensure that no child is left without the protection of the polio vaccine. In view of COVID-19 pandemic, the precautions like use of personal protective equipment, wearing of masks, using sanitisers and gloves etc. was done. Our students participated tirelessly in keeping the country polio-free.
